Harbour National Park

Submitted by Matt on Tuesday, July 27, 2004

This beach is located at Middle Head, in Sydney Harbour National Park.

1. Parking can be at a premium on weekends during the summer months. You will need to be there early.
2. There is a bus service that stops out the front of HMAS Penguin (a naval base). Only a short walk across the oval from there.
3. There are two ways to gain access to the beach area, either down a narrow winding track (for those that are agile enough). Or go along the fence line or back to the road until you see the fire trail which is more suitable for people who are going to make a day of it and are carrying the days supplies or are less mobile than others.
4. The grassed area is in my opinion the best option due to the beach area can become small when the tide is up.
5. The beach itself is approx 80-100m long.
6. Great family atmosphere with a diverse range of cultures.
7. BE AWARE, THAT THERE ARE NO FACILITIES CLOSE TO THE BEACH. So you will need to pack and take some supplies with you.
8. During summer, a number of floating canteens do arrive unannounced carrying a variety of drinks and ice creams etc.
9. Although I'd like to say that it is a NUDIST beach, you will find the odd one or two that just do not have the courage to join the rest of us.
10. Perverts and voyeurs are not welcome. Once identified they are generally told to piss off and removed by the some what protective males, myself included.

My wife and I had our first nude beach encounter last summer (although it wasn't on a nude beach), which end in some fantastic sex.
What sort of people use this beach? Do couples go? or is it mainly men.
